How to Enjoy Your Vinyl a la Mode
Our vinyl products can easily be applied by anyone, without any special skills or tools. Simply follow the directions below very closely, and you’ll be enjoying your Vinyl a la Mode very soon!
Vinyl Preparation:
Using a ruler or credit card, you are going to “burnish” your lettering. To do this, place your lettering face down on a flat surface; apply pressure evenly with you ruler or credit card by running it back and forth along the length of your lettering.
Wall Preparation:
If your walls have been painted recently, please make sure to wait 30 days before applying your vinyl to allow the paint plenty of time to cure. Otherwise please make sure your wall is dust free by cleaning it with a warm, wet cloth. Let dry completely.
Step 1:
While taking your time, use a laser level and measuring tape to determine exactly where you would like your vinyl lettering to be. Tape along the top with painters tape (masking tape) to hold it on the wall. Double check to make sure that it is level.
If your lettering is more than 4 feet long, we recommend that you cut it into more manageable pieces at this point. Using a pair of scissors cut between words as needed; DO NOT remove the tape from the wall while doing this.

Step 2a-Flip the first piece up against the wall.

Step 2b-Peel away the white wax paper from the clear sticky paper.

Step 2b-Peel away the white wax paper from the clear sticky paper.
Step 2:
Flip your lettering up, using the painters tape as a "hinge". Keeping it flat against the wall, peel the paper layer (grid paper) away from the sticky paper at a 180 degree angle (straight across). Make sure that your vinyl letters stick to the sticky paper.
Step 3:
As you let the sticky paper fall back down to the wall, use your ruler or credit card to smooth it down from the center outward. If you cut your lettering in Step 1, repeat Steps 2 and 3 for each piece.
Step 4:
As you did in your Preparation Step, use your ruler or credit card to "burnish" your lettering by applying pressure evenly by running it back and forth along the wall.
Step 5:
Starting in a top corner, peel away the sticky paper by pulling down and to the side. Pull it as close to the wall as possible. If the lettering should stick to the paper instead of the wall, simply rub it some more, or help it to stay with a nudge from your fingernail.
Step 6:
Enjoy your Vinyl a la Mode!
